Lukashenko extends greetings to the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and members of the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church on the opening of the session of the council, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“The current assembly of the bishops is especially symbolic because it is taking place in the days when we celebrate the 100th anniversary since the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church was opened and patriarchy was restored. The Russian Orthodox Church has come a long historical way. For centuries it has been committed to high spiritual and moral ideals, preached justice, love, peace, and creation. Today it has a high reputation and serves as a basis for the unity of the society,” the message says.

The head of state believes that the work of the Bishops’ Council will bear fruit, and the decisions to be taken will promote the spiritual development of fraternal nations.

Alexander Lukashenko sent best wishes for good health, success, and well-being to Patriarch Kirill and all the participants of the important meeting.
