Lake Naroch in top three CIS resorts popular with Russian tourists

Lake NarochMINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Lake Naroch has been named among the top three CIS resorts popular with Russian tourists during the summer of 2016, BelTA learned from the hotel search and reservation service RoomGuru.ru.

The ranking compiled by RoomGuru.ru is based on the number of accommodation bookings made by Russian tourists from 1 June to 31 August 2016. The top five features Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan), Borovoye (Kazakhstan), Lake Naroch (Belarus), Lankaran (the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan), and Lake Sevan (Armenia).

According to RoomGuru.ru, the number of summer trips of Russian tourists to the countries of the CIS has increased by 10% over last summer. During the summer of 2016, Russians booked accommodation on the shores of Lake Naroch for an average of eleven days paying around RUB3,600 ($55) per night. Summer holidays at Borovoye lasted for some seven days, at Issyk-Kul for approximately ten days. Lake Sevan posted the shortest duration of stay of 1.5 days.

Belarus welcomed tourists mostly from Central and Northwest Russia.

Apart from that, the Belarusian capital has topped the ranking of the most popular summer tourist destinations among the cities of the CIS. The top ten also includes Almaty, Baku, Astana, Yerevan, Kiev, Bishkek, Vitebsk, Chisinau and Tashkent. Bishkek was the cheapest destination with Astana being the most expensive one.
