Kyrgyz drawing, painting exhibition to open in Minsk on 15 March

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – A number of paintings and drawings by Kyrgyz artists inspired by the outstanding Soviet and Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov will be put on display at the National Art Museum of Belarus, representatives of the museum told BelTA.

Dedicated to the 90th anniversary since Chingiz Aitmatov’s birthday, the international exhibition White Cloud will be opened on 15 March. It is organized by the National Art Museum of Belarus in association with the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Belarus.

The exhibition will feature paintings and drawings created by Yuristanbek Shygayev, Zhylkychi Zhakypov, and Talant Ogobayev, who were inspired by works of the legendary writer Chingiz Aitmatov. The artists became known in the late 1980s – early 1990s. They rethought national traditions in accordance with their creative individualities. Their art focuses on the past and the present of the Kyrgyz nation.

The works on display will demonstrate reserved expression and saturated emotions as well as the lack of evolved action. The same traits can be traced in the art of different painters. This unity creates an image of Kyrgyzstan, which includes such features as the monumentality of plastic thinking, the rhythmic dimensional structure of the composition, statuary display. They are driven by the desire to freeze the suggested action in order to take a closer look at it and find its meaning.

The Kyrgyz paintings and drawings will stay on display at the National Art Museum of Belarus for one month.
