Krasnodar to host Days of Belarusian Cinema 22-31 March

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Cinema will take place in Krasnodar on 22-31 March, BelTA learnt from the website of the Belarusian embassy in the Russian Federation.

The program will include films of different genres. Krasnodar residents will see the best works of Belarusian cinematographers where Russian actors play as well. Fans of the Belarusian cinematography will get familiar with tales about morality and kindness. Among them is Sergei Loznitsa’s military and historical drama In the Fog. In 2012 the film was presented at the Cannes and nominated for the Golden Palme d’Or. The program will also include Vitaly Dudin’s melodrama At the Crossroads telling a story about a difficult choice between the urban and rural life, Renata Gritskova’s drama Insight about the generation gap, Alexandra Butor’s Belye Rosy. Return and Tales-4, a sequel of the Orthodox film almanac.

The Days will also display a retrospective of Valery Rubinchik’s films. The program will include the Soviet cinema classics: The Lion’s Grave and King Stakh's Wild Hunt. The picture Film about Film will show the backstage of the filming process.

The movie The Lion’s Grave, which will open the cinema days, is based on Yanka Kupala’s poem. It gives a rethought to the Belarusian legends. The movie is filled with national Belarusian colors. The opening ceremony will be attended by folk singer Anna Osiyuk, a representative of the national community.

The movie King Stakh's Wild Hunt is known as the first Soviet mystical thriller based on the ancient ancestral legend. Thanks to Valery Rubinchik’s brilliant directorial work the viewers plunge into the atmosphere of the early 20th-century Belarusian Polesye full of mysteries and riddles.

The Days of Belarusian Cinema have been organized by the Culture Ministry of Russia’s Krasnodar Region with the assistance of the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the National Film Studio Belarusfilm. The Days of Belarusian Cinema will be held for the ninth time.
