Italian embassy in Minsk holds Christmas charity event for children

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – The Christmas charity event Children to Children, organized by the Embassy of Italy in Minsk and the Belarusian State Choreography Gymnasium, took place at the Belarusian State Choreography Gymnasium on 11 January, spokeswoman for the embassy Irina Sivertseva told BelTA.

The festivities were attended by about 150 children and teachers from children’s homes and boarding schools of Mogilev, Belynichi, Vileika, and Minsk. The Nutcracker ballet staged with the participation of the gymnasium’s students was a success. “The actors showed a high level of excellence. It was noted by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Stefano Bianchi and his spouse Francesca Nardi Bianchi who took part in the event. According to them, the ballet showed a high artistic level,” the spokeswoman said.

The embassy also hosted a buffet for children who could try traditional Italian pizza and panettone, Italy’s traditional pie which is given to children on Christmas in Italy. Besides, every child got sweet presents.

According to Irina Sivertseva, the Children to Children campaign is a traditional charity event. “We have been cooperating with the Belarusian State Choreography Gymnasium for more than 10 years. There was a brief hiatus when the event was not held. We are glad, however, that our cooperation has been resumed. We hope that our cooperation will further develop and will include not only Christmas and New Year charity events but also on-the-job training for ballet dancers in Italy,” Irina Sivertseva said.
