Iranian art to be on view in Minsk on 2-18 February

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – The exhibition of Iranian art “Iran – a precious land” timed to the 42nd anniversary of the 1979 Iranian Revolution will be on display in the University of Culture art gallery on 2-18 February, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition will showcase works of Iranian arts and crafts, handmade items, exquisite rugs, calligraphy, items from termeh (handwoven cloth), minakari (a unique Iranian technique of painting and coloring the surfaces of metals and ceramic tiles through enameling), and khatam (an inlaying technique).

“Iran is one of the most ancient countries in the world. It has rich cultural heritage, especially in architecture, miniature, and applied arts. Iranian art is characterized by a rich variety of decorative elements, exquisite fabrics and rugs, and items from precious metals,” the organizers of the exhibition noted.

The Iranian Revolution had a great historical significance for the whole world, gave an impetus to the development of art, and defined the nature of the modern cultural and public life of the country. “Visitors of the exhibition can get familiar with the unique Iranian art, its national traditions, culture, cuisine, the Persian language, literature, and the country’s landmarks. The exhibition also tells about the present-day Iran, its public and cultural life, science, technology, and sport,” the organizers added.

The program of the exhibition also includes master classes in calligraphy and painting, and screenings of films about Iranian culture.

The organizers of the event are the University of Culture art gallery and the culture office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus.
