International film festival Listapad 2017 opens in Minsk

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The 24th international film festival Listapad 2017 began in Minsk on 3 November. The opening ceremony under the slogan Truth, Love, and Beauty took place in the Moskva film theater, BelTA has learned.

Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Zharko read out the words of welcome sent by the Belarusian head of state to guests of the festival. He bestowed the Belarus president’s special prize for preserving and developing spirituality traditions in cinema art upon People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Menshov. The artist accepted the prize and described it as a highly coveted award.

Vladimir Menshov crashed a symbolic plate depicting Listapad 2017 to start the 24th edition of the international film festival in Minsk.

Boris Khlebnikov’s movie Arrhythmia was screened after participants of the contest programs and members of the jury were introduced.

The 24th international film festival Listapad is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 3-10 November. The festival is directed by the visual and performing arts center ART Corporation. The festival has been organized by the Belarusian Culture Ministry, the Minsk City Executive Committee in association with the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company, the Belarusian film studio Belarusfilm, and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
