International conference dedicated to Belarusian Zhirovichi Monastery to go digital

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - The 16th International Bibliological Conference dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Zhirovichi Monastery and its library will be held online on 15 May, BelTA learned from the National Library of Belarus.

The annual scientific conference is the main platform for open dialogue on book culture in Belarus. The 16th International Bibliological Conference will go digital. The video of the conference will remain available to everyone. The conference was planned for May this year, the time of the central celebrations of the 550th anniversary of the appearance of the Icon of the Mother of God and the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Monastery. The subject attracted the interest of numerous scientists from Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and France. More than 100 reports were registered on the National Library's Internet portal and about 60 articles were submitted for publication in the conference materials collection.

Taking into account the current epidemiological situation in the world, the organizers suggested finding a new format. “It is very important for us not to interrupt the tradition of a scientific dialogue and cooperation between researchers from different countries, to give them ane opportunity to share the results of relevant scientific achievements and projects,” the organizers said.

The event has been held since 1998. The organizers are the Culture Ministry and the National Library of Belarus.
