MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Pripyatsky National Park is inviting visitors to come and listen to the roar of stags and soak up the magic of autumn nature, the park told BelTA.

From September through mid-October, the forests of the national park are filled with extraordinary sounds – loud, piercing calls of male stags competing for the attention of females. Once heard, the roar of stags is hard to forget, the institution believes. At the same time, it is a unique spectacle and a sound show that attracts both local residents and tourists from around the world.

“The roar of stags can be heard during the mating season, or rut, when males compete for the right to start a family. They emit loud calls to demonstrate their strength and attract females. During this period, stags become particularly active, and their behavior can even be observed during daylight hours,” the national park explained.

The national park organizes special excursions with experienced guides who help visitors find the best observation spots, including forested areas and open clearings, especially near rivers and marshes where stags often come to drink. They also share insights into behavior of stags. The national park offers some of the best locations for listening to the roar of stags. The optimal time for a visit is early morning or late evening, when the animals are most active.

For such an outing, it is best to dress in neutral tones such as green, brown or gray, so as not to startle the animals. Visitors should also try to remain quiet and avoid sudden movements, as stags are very sensitive to unfamiliar sounds.

For this kind of mini-expedition, specialists recommend bringing a camera with a good zoom lens to capture unique moments. The key principle is safety, so visitors must not approach the animals too closely, as stags can be aggressive during the mating season.
