Haute Couture gowns on display in Mir Castle throughout summer

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – A collection of Haute Couture gowns will be on display in Mir Castle from 3 June to 3 September and will then travel to Cannes, couturier Denis Durand told media, BelTA has learnt.

The eminent guest arrived in Minsk to prepare the Franco-Belarusian project Mir Couture. It is the joint work of the artists of the two countries: a collection of evening gowns and bridal fashion will be on display during the summer season in Mir Castle, a monument of historical and cultural heritage, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is planned that the project will feature at least 15 gowns made by the renowned French couturier, with one of them being exclusively made from the fabrics handmade in Belarus.

According to Denis Durand, prior to the exhibition in Mir Castle his gowns can be spotted on the red carpet of the Cannes film festival. In 2017, after Mir Castle, the exhibition will travel back to Cannes where it will be displayed at the Festival Palace.

This is not the first time Denis Duran cooperates with Belarus. In 2013 he visited Minsk to attend the Listapad film festival. Back then the Belarusian actresses walked the red carpet wearing his dresses. According to the fashion designer, the trip to Minsk gave him a lot of positive emotions. “I fell in love with your country and people. When I was asked to prepare a joint collection with Belarus, I did not hesitate for a moment and accepted the offer. I have fond memories of the film festival and the people with whom he worked. You travel around the world and meet different people. This may serve as a good source of inspiration. It is very important to me,” he noted.

The Franco-Belarusian Haute Couture project has been organized by France Group, Mir Castle, with the support of the Embassy of France in Belarus.
