Ground broken for Belarusian residential district in France

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The official ground breaking ceremony fora district of Belarusian wooden houses took place in Villerupt, Lorraine Region, France on 15 November, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The project to build 37 houses produced by the house-building subsidiary of Shklov-based Newsprint Mill will be implemented in 2018. The housing program in Lorraine Region provides for the construction of 650 wooden houses within the next five years.

During the ceremony, the two sides exchanged the contract to export houses. A French delegation intends to visit Shklov soon to talk over the ways of bolstering ties.

In addition, representatives of the two countries visited the town of Haucourt-Moulaine which has already built a street of 17 Belarusian houses. The first tenants will move in in February 2018.

In January-September 2017 the export of Belarus’ woodworking industry to France rose by 17%, the embassy informed. Such an increase came on the back of the growth in the supplies of furniture and houses.
