Grodno to host international festival of illusionists

GRODNO, 9 February (BelTA) – Over 100 illusionists will take part in an international festival in Grodno, BelTA learned from one of the organizers of the event, Chairman of the Belarusian club of illusionists Nikolai Nardi.

On 3-4 March Grodno will play host to the 5th international festival of illusionists Magic Show. The event traditionally gathers a big number of young and experienced illusionists from Belarus, CIS and non-CIS countries.

“The marathon of magic and illusion is divided into two scenic days. The day-one contest program will feature young magicians,” said Nikolai Nardi. He noted that master classes and seminars will be held on the same day. Professional magicians will share the secrets of their success with the participants and the audience.

Two gala concerts will be held on 4 March. The stars of the genre will perform on the stage of Grodno Oblast Drama Theater.

“Levitation, mind reading, secret disappearance and mysterious appearance: performing on stage will be not only representatives of different countries, but also of different generations.” Thus, 18-year-old illusionist Ilya Kakhnovich has already earned many victories and awards. 74-year-old Vasily Rudenko is the only magician in the post-Soviet space who won the Ron MacMillan magic competition in the UK,” said Nikolai Nardi. The draw of the evening of magic will be the performance from Kristi Melnik, a well-known Belarusian illusionist.

The festival program will also include performances of the finalists of the TV shows Surprise me and Phenomenon. One of the main objectives of the event is the exchange of experience among representatives of the genre. The organizers of the festival are the Grodno Oblast Drama Theater and the Grodno club of illusionists.
