Grand Prix of Minsk Festival of Circus Arts go to Sergei Nesterov and his white tigers

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – The Grand Prix of the 2nd Minsk International Festival of Circus Arts went to Sergei Nesterov’s Shambala act with white tigers (Russia), BelTA learned from the Belarusian State Circus.

Gold was collected by Russia’s Virtuoso Five led by Vladimir Plotnikov and the Rope Walkers from the National Circus of Pyongyang. Silver went to aerial ring acrobats Marina Glovatskikh and Aleksei Grigorov from the National Circus of Ukraine, and acrobats on meeting swings led by Aleksandr Skokov from the Russian State Circus Company. Bronze was won by Belarusian trapeze artists Anastasia Donchenko and Anastasia Putyato, acrobats on the walkway (Adlet Tikanov) from the Kazakh State Circus, cane equilibrist Roman Khopersky from the Nikulin Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, and the Free Wire act (Li Wei of China).

The Audience Jury Award went to aerial ring acrobats Marina Glovatskikh and Aleksei Grigorov from the National Circus of Ukraine. The children’s jury liked Mexican juggler Pablo Martinez. Swing acrobats Mi-PARTI (led by Evgeny Didyk from Ukraine) got the Public Jury Award. The Minsk Mayor Award went to Russian act with bears (Tatyana Yarovaya and Andrei Yarovoi).

The 2nd Minsk International Festival of Circus Arts took place in the Belarusian capital on 19-22 September. Competing for awards were about 100 performers from 18 countries: Brazil, China, the United States, Australia, Israel, Germany, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Romania, Moldova, Mexico, Hungary, Italy, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus. The jury that included well-known and respected circus producers and directors assessed the performances of the three-day competition. The award ceremony took place as part of the gala concert on 22 September. The best acts of the festival will be included in the Bravo show which will be running in the Belarusian State Circus from 27 September to 8 December.
