Government program Belarus Culture for 2016-2020 adopted

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – A government program Belarus Culture for 2016-2020 has been adopted. The decision is laid down by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No. 180 of 4 March 2016, BelTA learned from the national legal information website.

The Culture Ministry has been named the coordinator and a customer of the government program. The customers also include the Healthcare Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Information Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Sports and Tourism Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, the Office of the Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities, the oblast administrations, and the Minsk city administration.

In accordance with the document the program’s goals include the preservation of the historical memory of the Belarusian nation, its national and cultural peculiarities and traditions, active involvement of Belarus citizens in the country’s cultural life, the implementation of the creative potential of the nation, quality formation, preservation and usage of documents of the National Archive Foundation as part of Belarus’ information resources, and assistance with the preservation of the national and cultural identity of the Belarusian diaspora.

The government program includes subprograms Legacy, Art and Culture, Belarus Archives, and Belarusians in the World.

The government program will be funded by the central state budget and municipal budgets as well as proprietary resources of organizations. The program’s implementation will require a total of Br29,841,955.5 million.

The Council of Ministers resolution comes into force as of the official publication and has effect on relations as of 1 January 2016.
