Gomel to host Slavonic Literature Dazhynki

GOMEL, 30 October (BelTA) – An international festival, Slavonic Literature Dazhynki, will take place in Gomel on 30 October – 2 November, BelTA learnt from Vladimir Gavrilovich, Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Civil Society, Union of Writers of Belarus.

Partaking in the event will be young writers alongside with well-established men of letters from Gomel Oblast as well as representatives of literature unions of the regions of Russia and Ukraine, including the Union of Writers of the Don, the International Union of Writers and others.

The program of the festival will comprise presentations of printed publications of Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian writers. In particular, there will be presented two books of poetry developed by the Union of Writers of Gomel Oblast, the Taganrog Literature Association Chaika and the Union of Writers of the Don. The festival will also include various soirees and master classes, honoring of the winners of oblast literature competitions. The events will be held at educational and cultural establishments of Gomel as well as in Gomel and Zhlobin districts.

Slavonic Literature Dazhynki has been held in Gomel Oblast since 2007 and is one of the key events in the cultural life of the region. Every year the festival expands the amount and geography of its participants. The main objective of the festival is to support and develop young talented writers, popularize Belarusian literature, exchange experience with Russian and Ukrainian writers.
