GRODNO, 10 May (BelTA) – On 21 May Golshany will host the seventh installment of the medieval culture festival Golshany Castle, BelTA learned from the department of ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Oshmyany District Executive Committee.

“The festival, like Golshany Castle itself that keeps many secrets, has become a hallmark of Oshmyany District. The holiday attracts plenty of visitors not only from Belarus but also from neighboring countries,” the local authorities said. This year the festival program will be interesting for every visitor.

Enthusiasts of military history will plunge into the atmosphere of a medieval knight's camp, will watch a jousting tournament and a competition of archers. Anyone will be able to learn some medieval martial arts, mint coins or walk on stilts.

The cultural program includes master classes in medieval dancing to the authentic musical accompaniment. The daytime program of the festival will open with a theatrical procession, and a performance near the castle walls by the Republican Theater of Belarusian Drama. Trips around unusual and mysterious places of Golshany will start from the walls of the castle too. Another highlight of the festival will be an evening music program featuring famous ethno-folk groups and an unforgettable fire show.

The Golshany Readings conference will discuss the regional development of Oshmyany District in the 10th -20th centuries.
