Germany Weeks in Belarus kick off with Paths of German Art exhibition

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The exhibition “The Paths of German Art” has opened the Germany Weeks in Belarus in Minsk’s Palace of Arts, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition gives a glimpse into the post-war art of East and West Germany, starting from 1949. It displays around 400 works of more than 100 artists. For example, it features works of worldwide famous artist Joseph Beuys and Sigmar Polke. The exhibition showcases 60 types of modern art, including fine art, graphics, photography, video art, sculpture, and installations.

According to Director of the Goethe Institute Jakob Racek, the exposition will be interesting both for professionals and art lovers.

The exhibition has been organized by the Goethe Institute in Minsk, the Institute of Ties with Foreign Countries, and the Palace of Arts.

The program of the Germany Weeks includes a lot of various events in Minsk and other cities of Belarus.

The Germany Weeks will last until 30 April. The Germany Weeks are traditionally held by the German Embassy in Belarus together with the Goethe Institute in Minsk, German cultural organizations in association with Belarusian establishments and partners.
