France wins Junior Women’s Relay in Raubichi

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – The French team of Chloe Chevalier, Julia Simon and Lena Arnaud won the 3x6K Junior Women’s Relay of the 2015 IBU Youth/Junior World Championships in Raubichi, Belarus on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

French team of Chloe Chevalier, Julia Simon and Lena Arnaud won the 3x6K Junior Women’s Relay France battled for the gold medal with Russia almost to the finish but was able to seal the victory in 53:27.3 with six spare rounds. The Russian team of Victoria Slivko, Natalia Gerbulova and Ulyana Kaisheva took silver finishing 26.9 seconds back with seven spare rounds. Third came in the German team of Anna Weidel, Helene-Theresa Hendel and Marie Heinrich, 1:33.7 back with seven spare rounds.

During the 3x6K Junior Women’s RelayBelarusians complicated things for themselves after Yevgenia Yakovleva had a penalty during her leadoff leg. She tagged Anastasia Kunets in the 13th position, 1:50 behind the leader. Anastasia Kunets was also 13th at the next exchange but the time gap extended to 3:15.9. Tatiana Trifonova was able to take her team into the top ten finishing 9th, 4:29.5 behind the winner. The Belarusians had one penalty and nine spare rounds.
