Fragment of neolithic bone pendant found underwater in Senno District

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) - Archaeologists have discovered a fragment of a bone pendant dating back to the third millennium BC underwater in Senno District, BelTA learned from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

A special research underwater archaeology team from the Institute of History has begun its field season. Specialists from the departments of primitive society archaeology, medieval and modern history are conducting research on the submerged layers of the Krivina-3 late Neolithic peatland settlement in Senno District.

“Despite challenging weather, the expedition is operating as usual. Among the first finds are pottery fragments, an eyelet from a bone pendant, and animal and fish bones. The discovered artifacts date back to the second half of the third millennium BC,” the Institute of History said.
