Four Belarusian aerial skiers into Austria final

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Four Belarusian aerial skiers made it into the final round of the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships that kicked off in Kreischberg, Austria on 14 January, BelTA has learned.

In the first qualifying try Denis Osipov scored 113.28 points to finish 3rd, which took him straight into the final. Maxim Gustik was 16th with 86.73 points while Stanislav Gladchenko finished 21st (71.39) among 22 participants. Maxim Gustik improved his position in the second try climbing up to 8th (118.55) to secure a spot in the final. Stanislav Gladchenko also produced a better second jump to take 10th place with 91.96 points. He finished 16th overall to miss out on the final.

In the women’s event, Belarus' Anna Guskova and Alexandra Romanovskaya both came through the qualifying round after the second try. The first one was not so lucky as Alexandra Romanovskaya was 7th with 84.10 points while Anna Guskova 8th with 80.64. The second jump brought 2nd place to Alexandra Romanovskaya and fourth – to Anna Guskova.

The final round will take place on 15 January.

Twelve best competitors following the two qualifying tries advance into the final. Four athletes with the worst results are eliminated in Final 1. Six competitors continue the battle for the medals after Final 2. Final 3 is the medal event.

Aerial skiing is the only event Belarus is represented in at the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Kreischberg. Competitions in freestyle skiing, snowboard and ski-cross will continue through 25 January.
