Forum of young specialists to be held as part of IEC General Assembly in Minsk

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Minsk will host a forum of young specialists as part of the General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in October 2015, BelTA learned from Secretary of the IEC National Committee of Belarus, Director of OAO BELLIS Testing and Certification of Home Appliances and Industrial Products Yuri Pashik.

“The IEC pays special attention to the training of young people. The program of the General Assembly includes several education programs and meetings with young specialists,” Yuri Pashik noted. Professionals give consultations and the young people get tasks that they later execute and bring to the judgment of specialists.

The young participants will also have a breakfast together with the heads of the IEC national committees. “This is organized in the following way: first we choose a restaurant. Then during the breakfast, for example, a young American specialist joins representatives of the US national committee, members of the French committee eat with their young fellow citizen, and so on. This is a wonderful opportunity as very few young specialists have such a chance to talk to the heads of the IEC national committees,” Yuri Pashik explained.

He emphasized that it is important to attract as many young Belarusian specialists as possible to participate in the forum. “The number of participants is limited. Every country can send only two people. However, taking into account that the IEC General Assembly will be held in Belarus and the participation of our young people will not cause any additional costs for the IEC, we would like to see more Belarusians among the participants,” Yuri Pashik noted. The administration of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics also wants its students to take an active part in the IEC General Assembly in any capacity, be it a volunteer, a participant, an observer, or a technical expert.

The 79th General Assembly of the International Electrotechnical Commission will take place in Minsk from 5 to 16 October 2015. It will be a large-scale forum for the economic, scientific, and technical life of the country and the entire world. The assembly is kind of a technological competition that will gather representatives of the world's top manufacturers ranging from engineers and medium-level managers to top managers, high-ranking officers of ministries and agencies. The general assemblies are held in high-profile countries with well-developed high-tech industries and in the regions the International Electrotechnical Commission deems promising. The IEC comprises 164 countries, including Belarus.
