Exhibition to mark 100th anniversary of Romania’s unification opens in Minsk

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – A photo exhibition timed to the 100th anniversary of the unification of Romania opened in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.

The exposition features 100 historical, architectural and conceptual works of Romanian photographers, including fledgling artists. The works present Romania’s landmarks, including a great number of UNESCO World Heritage sites. The exhibition opened at the Mikhail Savitsky Art Gallery.

Attending the opening ceremony was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Belarus Viorel Mosanu. He emphasized that the day of 1 December 1918 was the culmination of the national unification of the country. Romania passed the test of time and became a historically mature and sustainably developing state.

Head of the Europe Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Vorobyov welcomed Romania’s achievements and noted that Romania is among the fastest growing economies in Europe.

According to Evgeny Vorobyov, Belarus and Romania maintain vigorous cooperation at various levels. Humanitarian cooperation is a case in point: Romanian singers take part in the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk festival, Romanian cinema industry is represented at the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, Belarusian and Romanian universities sign cooperation agreements, while museums of the two countries cooperate, too. Efforts to scale up interregional contacts result in closer cooperation in trade, economy, culture, education and tourism.
