BREST, 24 July (BelTA) – Belarusian tourists show a strong interest in visiting cultural events, palaces, and castles, Director of the National Tourism Agency Kirill Masharsky told BelTA.

The implementation of the head of state’s instructions on tourism development in Belarus and the progress of the sectoral program for 2026-2030 were discussed in Brest on 24 July. During a meeting between Brest Oblast Governor Petr Parkhomchik and Kirill Masharsky, the focus was on expanding the tourism potential of the southwestern region, constructing new facilities, and creating new locations for both Belarusians and foreigners.

“Our goal is to make the tourism product more comfortable and of higher quality for our tourists. In this regard, we discussed challenging issues and feedback from entrepreneurs,” the director of the National Tourism Agency said.

Many attractions in Brest Oblast are popular with tourists. In particular, the Ruzhany Palace Complex, where restoration and conservation work continues. According to Kirill Masharsky, Belarusians show a serious interest in visiting historical and architectural sites. “We remember what the Nesvizh and Mir castles were like just 15 years ago, and how eagerly people visit them now. The beautiful Kossovo Palace is also popular among tourists,” he said.

The tourist event calendar will be expanded with another special event. This autumn, Belovezhskaya Pushcha will host the Zubr Fest festival.

“Over the past ten years, Belarusians’ interest in event tourism has grown. People want to experience tourism products in our regions while on the move: taking part in sports events and attending various festivals. We are confident that Zubr Fest will become a very promising event in Brest Oblast. The National Tourism Agency is ready to assist,” Kirill Masharsky added.

Zubr Fest is planned as a diverse, multi-disciplinary event tailored to various target groups of tourists. The program is intended to include family recreation activities, a music festival, sports competitions, and discussion platforms for scientists.
