MOSCOW, 6 December (BelTA) – A new train was launched in the Moscow metro on 6 December to mark the 5th anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The official launching ceremony was attended by Belarus’ Vice Premier Igor Petrishenko, BelTA has learned.

Two cars of the train are dedicated to each of the five EAEU member states.  “It was great to see things that are associated with Belarus: lakes and forests, Yanka Kupala’s poems and the words from the Belovezhskaya Pushcha song, BelAZ trucks and Belarusian food products,” Igor Petrishenko said. The train depicts all the important milestones of the EAEU development, and also the iconic buildings of all the EAEU member states.

According to Igor Petrishenko, the launch of the new themed train is also important for tourism promotion. “Passengers will see the Belarus-themed cars and will be eager to visit our country,” he said.

The deputy prime minister also stressed that ideas of the Eurasian integration should be actively promoted in all the EAEU countries. “It is needed to help people see the benefits of the EAEU related to freedom of movement, and also to the rights to education, healthcare, employment and pension coverage," said Igor Petrishenko.

The launch of the metro train branded to mark the EAEU anniversary is part of the events envisaged in the program to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union. The train will serve the loop line of the Moscow metro.
