Don Quixote in Belarusian at Cervantes Readings in Spain

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) - Don Quixote will speak Belarusian for the first time at the 9th annual Cervantes Readings in Spain, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The Cervantes Readings is annually held in the Cervantes Birth House-Museum in the city of Esquivias. Representatives of foreign states read fragments from Miguel de Cervantes’ major work The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha in their native languages. Attending this year’s readings is Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky. On 22 April the masterpiece that made part of the list of 100 World’s Best Books of All Time prepared by Norwegian Book Clubs in 2002 will speak Belarusian at the Cervantes Birth House-Museum for the first time.

On 21 April the Director of Belarus’ National Library met with Director of the National Library of Spain Ana Santos Aramburo. The parties discussed the ways of establishing bilateral cooperation between the national libraries of Belarus and Spain. During the visit Roman Motulsky will give an interview to the Spanish Radio and hold meetings with representatives of the Prada Museum and the Royal Palace of Madrid.
