Diverse program for Day of Sweden in Minsk on 2 June

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – The Day of Sweden in Minsk on 2 June will offer a diverse program of classes, children's shows and tasting of traditional dishes, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk City Hall.

The lineup of the music program will include Concordia Choir, Piotr Klyuev’s cover band, who will sing ABBA’s and Roxette’s hits, Madcaps dance band, Vuraj group and popular Belarusian band Akute. The concert will be headlined by Jenny from Ace of Base and Jay-Jay Johanson.

The Day of Sweden will be running on the main site in Svobody Square and themed sites.

The educational part of the program in the back courtyard of the Monastyrsky Hotel in Gertsena Street will present educational programs of the Swedish Institute. Visitors will be able to attend classes in traditional Midsummer celebrations in Sweden with games and songs, and brush up their knowledge of Swedish during a public lesson and quizzes.

The playground for kids will be arranged at the art terrace of the Upper Town concert hall. Young visitors will see a fairytale about Mamma Moo and her friend Crow, listen to the musical story about Pettson and his cat Findus and sing songs together with the artists. The event will also feature the classes “Make a Little Moose” and “Draw Sweden”, aqua makeup and a photo-zone.

A robot-lawnmower and limbing in virtual reality will be the highlight of the industrial part of the program. The central courtyard of the Monastyrsky Hotel will host cooking classes and wine tasting together with cooking guru Anastasia Lundquist who will share the secrets of Swedish cuisine.

The sports grounds in front of the Renaissance restaurant will welcome all those wishing to try their hand at floorball and Nordic walking, air hockey, football and tennis.

A food court with Swedish traditional dishes will be available in Svobody Square during the Day of Sweden.

The organizers are the Swedish Embassy in Belarus together with the Minsk City Hall with the support of Swedish and Belarusian companies.
