Delegations from 33 countries to attend Gomel Economic Forum

GOMEL, 25 May (BelTA) – Delegations from more than 30 countries will take part in the 15th Gomel Economic Forum on 25 May, BelTA learned from the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

Foreign participants will include official delegations, representatives of embassies, banking and financial establishments, free economic zones, businessmen. Interest in the forum was shown by Germany, China, Israel, Italy, Georgia, Russia, Finland, the Czech Republic, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Serbia and other countries. “The participation has been confirmed by delegations from 33 countries, with the total number of people to exceed 600,” the oblast executive committee said.

The forum will showcase the economic and investment potential of the region. Plans are in place to sign nine documents to the total tune of more than $481 million, including one investment agreement and eight memorandums of understanding.

A total of 145 investment projects in various areas make part of the Gomel Oblast investment portfolio that will be on display at the forum. They will include projects in woodworking industry, processing of secondary material resources, food production, agriculture, construction, tourism, and so on.

The forum will be divided into a number of sections: Agro-Industrial Complex, Construction, Housing and Utilities Services, Logistics and Trade, Tourism in Gomel Oblast, Development Prospects, Small and Medium-Sized Business. The forum will also include the Second Congress of Free Economic Zones.

Guests will also be invited to visit the 19th international exhibition Spring in Gomel, which is currently underway. The expo features about 200 stands of Belarusian, Moldovan, Italian, and Vietnamese companies.

First held in 2004, the Gomel Economic Forum is an effective platform to launch investment projects. From 2008 to 2017, an estimated 88 documents to the total amount of almost $2 billion were signed at the forum.
