Days of Minsk to take place in Tbilisi, Budapest, St Petersburg in 2018

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Tbilisi, Budapest, and St Petersburg will host the Days of Minsk in 2018, Vitalina Rudikova, Deputy Head of the Main Department for Ideology, Culture, and Youth Affairs at Minsk City Hall, noted at a session of the department on 9 February, BelTA has learned.

Last year, the Days of Minsk were held in Belgrade, Moscow, and Omsk within the framework of international agreements.

Some other interesting projects were launched in 2017, including public-partner partnership ones. Minsk Upper Town became the center of cultural life. Momentous dates in the history of Belarus and Minsk also came into focus, in particular the 950th anniversary of Minsk, the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing, the 135th birthday of Belarus’ classic writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas.

In September 2017, the Belarusian State Circus played host to the first Minsk international circus art festival which has brought together over 100 artists from 16 countries.

All in all, over Br43 million was allocated form the government budget to finance state-owned cultural establishments in 2017. The revenue from extrabudgetary activities made up around Br30 million. These funds were used to upgrade the material and technical capacities of the cultural institutions. Exports of services went up by 25.3% to $499,500.
