Days of Belarusian Culture in Riga to celebrate Yanka Kupala’s art

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – The Latvian capital of Riga will host the Days of Belarusian Culture that will celebrate the life and work of eminent poet Yanka Kupala from 17 to 30 October, BelTA has learned from the organizers.

The program of the cultural event organized as part of the Year of Culture in Belarus includes a literary exhibition, a theatrical performance, an exhibition of children’s drawings about Belarus, photo exhibitions, a concert, and the photo project Rodosloviye (Genealogy).

The Days of Belarusian Culture in Riga will open with the photo exhibition Small Stories of a Big City by Olga Kirillova. The exhibition will be unveiled on 17 October. The Belarusian folk song group Lileya will give a concert on 18 October.

On 19 October, the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum will present its exhibition celebrating the life and work of the poet at Belarusian Basic School. The exhibition of children’s drawings Belarusian Corner will open at the Belarusian Information Center at the Academic Library of the University of Latvia on 20 October.

The photo exhibition People Faces From The World organized as part of the project Rodosloviye (Genealogy) will be unveiled on 20 October.

The program for 21 October includes an exhibition of works by Olga Kirillova, a performance by Belarusian folk trio Vytoki, a screening of the documentary Saint Rimma by Belarusian film director and producer Valery Karpov, and a concert by the band Suzorye.

The Days of Belarusian Culture will conclude on 30 October with a theatrical performance by 7 Paverkh Theater Studio of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts.

The Days of Belarusian Culture in Riga have been organized by the Belarusian Information Center in association with the Belarusian Culture Ministry, Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum, Belarusian State Academy of Music, Minsk Tourist Information Center, and the company Promagroleasing.
