GRODNO, 10 May (BelTA) – A traditional cross-border picnic will open a summer tourist season at the Augustow Canal on 12 May, BelTA learned from the Grodno District Cultural and Information Center.

These series of sport and cultural events will be held near the Kurzyniec sluice on the Polish side (border crossing point Lesnaya-Rudawka) and the Dombrovka sluice in Grodno Oblast. The event will include the Nordic walking festival to feature athletes from Belarus, Russia, Poland, and France.

One of the events will celebrate the Belarusian cuisine, with an opportunity to taste traditional Belarusian dishes and compete in food-related events.

Amateur dancers from around Grodno Oblast will take part in the dancing festival Traven U Styli Etna (May in Ethno Style) in the Dombrovka sluice.

The program of the event will also include an excursion across the Augustow Canal, including the Museum of the History of the Augustow Canal.
