Classical music concerts in former barracks of Brest Fortress

BREST, 15 July (BelTA) – The Art Museum, which is located in the southern barracks of the Brest Fortress and which is a branch of the Brest Regional History Museum, will host a series of classical music concerts, BelTA learned from Zhanna Oblamskaya, the head of the scientific-methodical department of the art museum.

The museum is planning to organize the evenings of classical music on Fridays. The venue is not accidental. The high arches of the old buildings built in the 19th century create unique acoustics.

The first concert from the series "Musical Friday in the Art Museum" will be held on 17 July. The winners of the national and international contests will perform the arias from the operas, romances, and also Bach and Chopin’s pieces. The concert will feature Belarus’ Honored Artist Lilia Batyreva (piano), duo of Dmitry Borisyuk and Yevgenia Novarko (guitar), Oksana Kozlovskaya (violin), Lyudmila Lagutenok (vocal).

According to Zhanna Oblamskaya, such projects are intended to show visitors that the museum is now a trendy place. This year, the Brest Regional History Museum has arranged a series of unconventional events. For example, every few months the museum mines its holdings to exhibit the rare items that have never been displayed before. Since June the museum has been holding Trendy Thursday event. On this day the museum offers Brest residents to spend their leisure time in an easy and informative way. Fans of active lifestyle have liked the cycling quest-excursions offered by the Brest Archaeological Museum Berestye. The intelligent route runs from the ancient settlement Berestye to the new neighborhoods of the town.

The project "Musical Fridays in the Art Museum" at the Brest Regional History Museum is carried out jointly with the Brest music society and is part of the events of the Brest – Belarus Capital of Culture 2015 campaign.
