China’s Gansu Dance Theater to give concert in Grodno on 21 January

GRODNO, 18 January (BelTA) – The State Song and Dance Theater of China’s Gansu Province will give a concert in Grodno on 21 January, BelTA learned from the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The Chinese theater will perform at the Grodno Oblast Drama Theater. The entry is free. Belarus’ Marina Elyashevich will present her works (in the Chinese painting technique) at the Oval Hall of the New Castle on the same day.

“Grodno has been named a symbolic Belarusian cultural gate of the Silk Road. The initiative to grant the city with the status was voiced by Culture Minister Boris Svetlov during the international forum Silk Road EXPO that took place in Gansu Province in September 2016. The idea was supported by the oblast executive committee and these events will be the first steps in its implementation,” said Deputy Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Viktor Liskovich.

Attending the events will be Chinese diplomats. A meeting will be held at the oblast executive committee as part of the program.

In 2014 Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province signed a number of agreements and programs of cooperation for 2014-2020. A twinning agreement between Grodno and Longnan, Gansu Province was signed in 2015.
