Center of traditional Chinese medicine may open in Grodno

GRODNO, 17 March (BelTA) – Chinese investors may turn a building in Grodno into a center of traditional Chinese medicine, BelTA learned from the Healthcare Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The plans to set up this center were discussed during the visit of healthcare workers from Gansu Province to Grodno. The Healthcare Department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee proposed Chinese partners to renovate an inefficiently used building in the oblast capital or to build a new one. Different scenarios were discussed. Chinese partners inspected construction and renovation facilities. They were interested in the unused building owned by children’s outpatient hospital No. 1.

According to Rector of the Grodno State Medical University Viktor Snezhitsky, Chinese partners are ready to organize advanced training courses for Grodno doctors in China. After these courses which will last for more than a year these specialists will work at the new center. Plans have been made to hire Chinese specialists now.

If the project is a success, this will be the first center of traditional Chinese medicine in Belarus.

There are other agreements on healthcare cooperation between Gansu Province and Grodno Oblast. A memorandum of cooperation between the Grodno State Medical University and one of the leading university hospitals in Chinese Lanzhou has been signed this week. The sides agreed to exchange students and lecturers, establish cooperation between universities’ medical rehabilitation departments. Grodno specialists are ready to implement joint research projects together with the Chinese side, take part in the analysis of medical plant components from China.

The cooperation of Grodno Oblast and Gansu Province relies on agreements and the program of cooperation for 2014-2020 in various fields which were signed in 2014.
