Bulgarian theater wins grand prix at theater festival in Belarus

Bulgarian theater wins grand prix at theater festival in BelarusMINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The Grand Prix of the 14th edition of the international theater festival Teatralny Kufar. BSU 2017 went to a student theater from Bulgaria, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State University (BSU).

The winner of the award is the play Romeo and Juliet - Sonnet of Enduring Love staged by the theater-laboratory AlmaAlter (Bulgaria). It was also recognized as the best professional performance.

The Best Supporting Actor and Actress are Andrei Korzan and Darya Parmenenkova who acted in the play A Young Doctor's Notebook of Andrei Savchenko theater project (Belarus). Mary Gracielle So picked up the Best Actress award for her part in the play Oedipus of the Dulaang Filipino theater (Philippines) which is also won the award as the Best Amateur Theater.

Vladislav Naimark and Dmitry Tishko were named the Best Actor and the Best Director respectively for the play The Love of People of the student theater Na Balkone (BSU) among amateur theaters. Among professional theaters the Best Director award was granted to Yevgeny Slavutin for the play Dear God! staged by the MOST theater (Russia).

Among the awardees there are Yelena Kotikhina, Director of the Three play (Modern Moscow Drama Theater) and Miljana Cosic, Director of the Demon and Prophet play (Vuk Karadzic Theater, Belgrade).

The 32 Studio of Physical Movement (Southern Federal University, Taganrog), Anna Sulima’s Document Theatre (Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, Minsk) and Dulaang FilipinoTheater (Philippines) were also awarded with the special jury awards.

The award ceremony took place in the BSU lyceum on 27 September. As many as 21 student theaters from 9 countries: Belarus, Russia, the UK, Poland, Serbia, Chile, Bulgaria, Philippines and Tunisia took part in the festival. The organizer of the event is the BSU department of culture.
