Brest Millennium festival to draw 3,000 participants

MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Brest will host the international multi-genre festival-competition Millennium on 14-17 March which will encompass vocal, choreographic, instrumental, theatrical and visual arts, BelTA learned from Svetlana Semashko, head of the culture department of the Brest city administration.

"Representatives from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Spain, Portugal and Venezuela have already confirmed their participation. We expect applications from other countries. Some 3,000 people are expected to attend the festival. Prizewinners of the festival will be provided with an opportunity to go to Moscow for the World Arts Olympiad and the World Dance Olympiad in April-May this year," Svetlana Semashko said.

Participants will compete in various nominations in more than 10 age categories - three years and older. The best will receive awards. Yet no one will be left without memorable gifts and souvenirs.

The Millennium Festival will be held in the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions. “It will be a big holiday. Anyone can attend screening auditions and programs for free. Guests can participate in the competition, attend master classes, friendship meetings, street food festival. We hope that everything we have planned will pan out and the festival will be held every year,” Svetlana Semashko said.

The Millennium festival is organized with the support of the Brest city authorities. It is part of the program of events to celebrate the millennium of Brest. According to Svetlana Semashko, plans are in place to hold two similar events this year: the Boys Choir Festival (6-9 May) and the Dancing Rainbow Choreography Festival (31 May – 3 June).
