Book about Belarus-Russia interregional contacts comes out

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – The book Regions For The Union State about cooperation between Belarusian and Russian regions has been published by the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopaedia publishing house, BelTA learned from director of the publishing house Vladimir Andrievich.

“The book Regions For The Union State was published with support of the Union State Standing Committee and was timed to the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. It is a kind of a small illustrated encyclopedia about interregional cooperation between the two countries. This popular science publication describes interaction of all Belarusian regions with Russian regions. It will be of interest to all who would like to explore the history of the two countries, their economic relations and current activities of the Union State,” Vladimir Andrievich said.

In his words, the book highlights the importance of direct contacts between the regions of the two countries. “The importance of interregional cooperation is confirmed by annual forums of regions of Belarus and Russia that are attended by the heads of state. The publication tells about each of the four previous forums. They became an important platform to discuss not only our achievements, but also issues and ways to resolve them, which facilitates innovative contacts between the two countries, strengthens existing ties and brings to life new areas of cooperation,” the director of the publishing house said.

In the opening remarks to the book, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota emphasized: “Interregional contacts became a priority avenue of Belarus-Russia relations. They serve as a foundation for cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology, culture and social field between the two countries. They give rise to new joint projects in mechanical engineering, power engineering, agriculture, petrochemical industry, construction and other sectors. Such projects provide the framework for breakthrough research projects, joint ventures and production facilities, new jobs, innovative technologies and manufacture of relevant products”.
