Bike Week in Minsk on 11-19 May

Bike Week in Minsk on 11-19 May

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – The Bike Week campaign will be held in Belarus for the first time this year. The entire week of citywide cycling will be supplemented with all kinds of bike-related events, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The Bike Week will open with the 2019 UCI Europe Tour MINSK CUP on 11 May and the Grand Prix Minsk on 12 May. These events will bring together over 150 athletes from 15 countries. The 2019 Minsk Cup/GP Minsk will be a kind of a test check of the road cycling program of the 2nd European Games. The route will be the same as for the road races during the 2nd European Games.

The Grand Prix Minsk start and finish area will be located on Oktyabrskaya Square in front of the Palace of the Republic where a huge entertainment and leisure zone will be set up. Visitors will be offered a great number of activities. This zone will also be a venue for music concerts and the Velomiss 2019 contest.

On 16-19 May the Minsk Arena complex will host the Grand Prix Minsk international track cycling competition that will bring together over 200 racers.

The much-loved cycling carnival Viva Rovar! will mark its fifth anniversary this year. The event will take place on 18 May: cyclists clad in flamboyant outfits will get off at the Minsk Hero City Stela and move in a bright procession towards the main venue of the event – the Victory Park where the well-known music band Rondo led by singer/songwriter Alexander Ivanov will give a concert.

The events are organized by the Belarusian Cycling Federation, Minsk Cycling Club, Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Ministry, Minsk City Hall, Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, President’s Sports Club and Minsk Cycling Community.
