BelTA’s project wins Belarusian book art contest award

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – BelTA’s photo album The Moments of the Century have won a second-class prize in the nomination Photo View of the national contest Book Art.

BelTA’s photo album The Moments of the Century features over 250 photos to illustrate the country’s past and present. It has been published in Belarusian, Russian, and English.

As many as 158 publishing products of 40 organizations competed in the 58th national contest Book Art. Less than half of them passed the screening process. The panel of judges included Deputy Information Minister Igor Buzovsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus Roman Motulsky, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Artists Rygor Sitnitsa, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Designers Dmitry Sursky, Director of the publishing house Kavaler Konstantin Khotyanovsky, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Yelena Stelmakh, member of the Belarusian Union of Designers Valery Rogalevich. The panel was headed by Rector of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts Mikhail Borozna.

Winners of the Book Art contest were awarded on the sidelines of the 26th Minsk International Book Fair. More Than Books is the theme of this year’s book fair. It is taking place at 14 Pobeditelei Avenue through 10 February. Over 400 exhibitors from 37 countries demonstrate their products in an area of some 3,000m2. The book fair is expected to attract about 60,000 visitors. The organizers are the Belarusian Information Ministry, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and the Union of Writers of Belarus. The co-organizers are the ministries of foreign affairs, education, culture, and the book retailers Belkniga and Makbel.
