BelTA’s book among winners of CIS Book Art competition

MOSCOW, 4 September (BelTA) - The Voices of Mir. With a Mark of Quality book published by the Belarusian news agency BelTA, has received an award at the CS Book Art Competition. The awards ceremony took place at the 39th Moscow International Book Fair on 4 September, BelTA has learned.

The Voices of Mir. With a Mark of Quality book took second place in the My Country nomination. This publication is a printed version of a large-scale radio project by the representative office of the Interstate Television and Radio Company Mir in Belarus. It is based on 70 radio programs narrating the stories of factories and plants that later became industrial giants in Belarus. BelTA did the design and the layout of the book. Additionally, the agency provided photographs from its archive. Modern printing technology made it possible to supplement the edition with a QR code, through which readers can visit the Mir radio website and listen to the original programs: the archival interviews that formed the foundation of the project.

At the ceremony, Yuri Pulya, Deputy Director of the Department for State Support of Periodical Press and the Book Industry at the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, expressed gratitude to the Information Ministry of Belarus. "In July of this year, the Information Ministry organized and hosted a meeting of the jury of the competition in Minsk at a very high level. We appreciate that,” he said.

Yuri Pulya noted that a total of 64 publications from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan were submitted to the 23rd edition of the Book Art competition. The competition was held in ten nominations: Commonwealth, My Country, Dialogue of Cultures, Books for Children and Youth, Science and Education, Art Book, Art of Illustration, Printed in the CIS, Victory, and Grand Prix. The participants presented publications dedicated to the history and the present day of the CIS states, cultural interaction, national heritage, children’s and youth literature and also publications on art and book design.

This year, Belarus received eight prizes in the CIS Book Art competition. The collection Together! The Great Victory! was recognized best in the Victory nomination. In the CIS nomination, the Belarusian book Fairy-Tale World: Tales of the Peoples of the CIS took first place. Among scientific and educational publications, the first place went to the edition The Red Book of Belarus. Animals. Plants. The collection Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Maksim Bogdanovich in the Languages of the Peoples of the CIS was recognized best in the Dialogue of Cultures nomination. Tales of Mir Castle was named best book for children and youth was.

The book Belarusian Partisans. 1941-1944 received a second-degree diploma. A third-degree diploma in the Art Book nomination was awarded to the album Valentin Alekseyevich Gubarev. In addition, Belarusian books received several special diplomas.

The Grand Prix of the competition went to two publications at once: the complete collected works in twelve volumes of Chingiz Aitmatov published in Kyrgyzstan and the Tajik Shahnameh (The Book of Kings).
