MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) - The Belarus office of the MIR multinational TV broadcaster and the Belarusian news agency BelTA have prepared a joint project “Photos Come Alive” showing the milestones in the life of the Belarusian capital, BelTA has learned.

A series of videos based on the archival photos and video footage of modern Minsk has been prepared for the project. Viewers will see how the city has changed during the years of sovereignty of Belarus, what the capital looked like in the 1990s and what it is now.

Directors, journalists and photojournalists reviewed hundreds of photos of 30 years ago from BelTA’s archives and selected those that depict Minsk’s landmarks and iconic places.

The videos take viewers from black and white Minsk to the colorful capital of 2020. They show how the National Olympic Stadium has turned from the marketplace in the 1990s into a modern sports facility. They show how the Great Patriotic War Museum emerged next to the  Minsk Hero City Stele, how Independence and Pobeditelei Avenues, Yakub Kolas Square, Nemiga Street, the railway station and the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus have changed for the better.

The project goes on air of the MIR TV channel on 3 July. The project features ten parts. Joint work will continue. Plans are in place to prepare the videos about the regional centers of Belarus.
