Belavia to launch charter flights to Tenerife on 18 March

MINSK, 8 March (BelTA) – The first Belavia charter flight from Minsk to Tenerife, Canary Islands is scheduled for 18 March, BelTA learnt from Director General of the Belarusian air carrier Belavia Anatoly Gusarov.

“The first flight is scheduled for 18 March. Taking into account a spring holiday break the demand for it is big. We also can see that this route will enjoy popularity throughout the summer,” said the head of the airline.

According to Anatoly Gusarov, Belavia is likely to operate flights to Tenerife from March to New Year with a break during the winter months of 2017.

According to Igor Cherginets, Belavia’s Deputy Director General for Marketing and Foreign Economic Affairs, the charter timetable for the summer period has been almost formed. “Some issues remain to be settled together with travel agencies,” he added. According to Igor Cherginets, in the coming season Belavia expects redirection of tourist flows from Turkey and Egypt to European routes.

At the same time the national air carrier plans more flights to Barcelona and Larnaca. Belavia also plans to launch a new flight to Palanga and increase the number of flights to Batumi. Belavia will operate daily flights to the Georgian city.

Belavia is Belarus' biggest air carrier, including in cargo transportation. In late January 2014 it acquired a juridical status of an open joint stock company. Belavia operates 27 aircraft. In 1997 Belavia joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA), in 2010 – the European Regions Airline Association (ERAA). In 2015, the company transported over 2 million passengers.
