MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Three Belarusians have become double winners at the Match Meeting in athletics among youth teams of the Belarus-Russia Union State, BelTA has learned.
The international competition is being hosted by the National Olympic Stadium Dinamo. On 19 July, Belarus’ Kom Kristal Shannon won the triple jump among under-20 junior women with a result of 13.39 meters. Another Belarusian, Angelina Sheigratsova (12.78), completed the medal podium. The day before, Kom Kristal Shannon had celebrated success in the long jump.
“I’m happy with the victory, even though I expected it. I’m pleased with the result, especially compared to the Cup of the Strongest Athletes held in Russia, where not everything went according to plan. I feel like I’m getting into shape and plan to perform even better at the Belarusian championships. The mood is good, the atmosphere at the stadium is excellent, and it was easy to jump,” Kom Kristal Shannon said.
Belarusian Pavel Artemyev also became a champion of the Match Meeting in both the long jump and the triple jump among under-18 boys. Darya Vasilchik (U20) also claimed two golds at the home tournament: on Saturday, our athlete was unrivaled in the shot put, and today she delivered her best throw in the discus (57.26 meters).
On the first day of the Match Meeting in athletics among youth teams of the Union State on 18 July, Belarusian track and field athletes earned 45 medals (14 gold, 12 silver, 19 bronze).
