Belarusian women’s team third at European Pentathlon Championships

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes clinched bronze medals in the team event at the 2026 European Senior Modern Pentathlon Championships in Istanbul, Türkiye, BelTA has learned.

The medalists of the continental forum were Anastasiya Arol, Mariya Gnedtchik and Viyaleta Hureyeva. The team standings for each country were calculated using the results of finalists, while athletes who did not make the top 18 in the individual event had their points from the semifinal or qualification taken into account. In the end, the Belarusian trio accumulated 4,313 points and took third place among 11 teams. Gold went to Hungary (4,360), while silver was claimed by Switzerland (4,355).

In the individual tournament, Anastasiya Arol finished second, Mariya Gnedtchik placed ninth and Viyaleta Hureyeva finished 14th. The men’s final, featuring Belarusian Uladzislau Melkaziorau, will take place on the evening of 8 August. The 2026 European Senior Modern Pentathlon Championships in Istanbul will conclude on Sunday with the mixed relay event.
