Belarusian tourists visiting Latvia double over five years

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – The number of Belarusian tourists in Latvia has doubled over the last five years, Latvian Economy Minister Arvils Aseradens told a press conference, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Latvia are interesting to each other in terms of tourism. Interest of Belarusian tourists in Latvia has increased in recent years. For five years, the number of tourists from Belarus has doubled,” Arvils Aseradens said.

According to him, Riga and Jurmala are favorite destinations of Belarusian travelers. There is also a growing interest in other regions of Latvia. At the same time Arvils Aseradens expressed interest in Belarus’ tourist offers.

In that connection, he expressed the view that, given the demand today and in the future, there is a need to promote bilateral cooperation in tourism and to develop relevant projects. “We would like to help organize thematic workshops to exchange experience and other events related to tourism, promote joint projects,” Arvils Aseradens noted.
