MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – The qualifying rounds of the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, the French Open, are getting underway in Paris, BelTA has learned.

The first of the three Belarusian players to step onto the Roland Garros courts will be Aliona Falei, who will face Italy’s Lisa Pigato. Also on 18 May, Aliaksandra Sasnovich will play her opening match against American Whitney Osuigwe. On Tuesday, 19 May, Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich will meet Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja. To reach the 128-player main draw, the athletes must win three qualifying rounds.
