Belarusian Tatsiana Tsyhanova among Monochrome Awards 2017 prizewinners

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) - Tatsiana Tsyhanova from Minsk won the second place at Monochrome Awards International Black & White Photography Contest 2017, one of the most prestigious international competitions of black-and-white photography 7, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian won the award in the professional category Photomanipulation Photographer of the Year with the photo “Strange Burlesque with Feather”.

Approximately 9,000 photographers from 87 countries took part in Monochrome Awards in 2017. All winning photos are included in the Monochrome Photography Awards Annual Book. Their authors are given the opportunity to showcase at exhibitions around the world and at the online Winners Gallery.

Monochrome Awards International Black & White Photography Contest (UK) is one of the most prestigious black-and-white photography competitions and is held annually. The international jury is composed of 28 famous photographers of Europe and America.

The competition is divided into two categories; professional and amateur. The nominations include Abstract Photographer of the Year; Architectural Photographer of the Year; Conceptual Photographer of the Year; Fashion/Beauty Photographer of the Year; Fine Art Photographer of the Year; Landscapes Photographer of the Year; Nature Photographer of the Year; Nude Photographer of the Year; People Photographer of the Year; Photojournalism Photographer of the Year; Photomanipulation Photographer of the Year; Portrait Photographer of the Year; Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Three winners are determined in each nomination. Some photos selected by the jury are awarded Honorable Mentions.

This is not the first success of Tatsiana as a photographer. Last year she was among the top 50 photographers of Sony World Photography Awards, beating more than 105,000 other authors from 182 countries with the photo of her daughter.
