MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – A representative of Belarus is taking part in a Russian experiment designed to prepare people for landing on the Moon, BelTA learned from Chief of Staff of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Pyotr Vityaz at a press conference on 10 April.

The scientist pointed out that the whole world is working on deep space exploration, such as the Moon and Mars exploration, construction of stations on the Moon. “This area is developing not only abroad but also in Russia. And Belarus contributes to it too. Russia is currently conducting a very useful experiment to prepare people to land on the Moon with the participation of a Belarusian. The experiment is carried out on Earth but in the conditions which stimulate the Moon environment. It includes long-lasting survival experiments and control over the process. The life of people in such conditions is interesting from the medical and technological points of view. The experiment is expected to find answers to a lot of questions,” Pyotr Vityaz noted.

He also pointed out that last year Belarus hosted a large-scale event – the International Space Congress which is a very important achievement. The event brought together a lot of cosmonauts and astronauts who presented their vision of the space technologies development and discussed possible ways of space exploration in the future.
