MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – For the fifth time the Gout de France/Good France culinary festival will be running in 150 countries, including Belarus, on 21-24 March, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Didier Canesse told the media, BelTA has learned.

Joining this year’s festival of French gastronomy will be 22 Belarusian restaurants from Minsk, Mogilev, Gomel and Grodno. Last year taking part in the event were 17 Belarusian catering facilities. Five years ago only one restaurant took part in the campaign.

“It is obvious that the interest in French cuisine is growing in Belarus. There are restaurants with French cuisine, which, of course, is really great. More and more high-class restaurants are opening in Belarus, and especially in Minsk,” said the ambassador.

According to Didier Canesse, on 21 March restaurants on five continents will invite for a dinner with a variety of French dishes. All chefs will be doing their best to showcase the trends of French cuisine. This year's preference will be given to the culinary traditions of the French province of Provence.

Attending the meeting with the media were the chefs of the Belarusian restaurants that are going to take part in the festival.

The Gout de France culinary festival is organized at the initiative of French chef and restaurant-keeper Alain Ducasse with the assistance of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
