Belarusian diplomats attend war commemorative events

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Spain Pavel Pustovoy took part in a commemorative event to mark the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the Fuencarral cemetery in Madrid, BelTA learned from the Embassy of Belarus in Spain.

Ambassadors and diplomats from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan paid tribute to the memory of those who fought for freedom and independence of their countries. Ambassador Pavel Pustovoy laid a wreath to the monument to Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War and the Spanish civil war.

The ambassador wished Happy Victory Day to all those present. He noted that Belarus carefully preserves the memory of the war and celebrates the 75th anniversary of liberation from the invaders this year.

Belarusian diplomats participated in festivities in other states. They share the photos of the rallies and flower ceremonies on their social media pages. Thus, Belarusian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Andrei Strachko took part in a commemorative meeting in Victory Square in Bishkek and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. Officials of the Belarusian Embassy in Georgia paid tribute to the fallen and laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Vake Park in Tbilisi.
