MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) -  Representatives of the Belarusian Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Consulate General in Munich attended the events to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps in Germany, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Germany.

The ceremony commemorated the anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps Ravensbruck, Sachsenhausen, Buchenwald, Mittelbau-Dora, Gardelegen and Flossenburg, and also the memory of the victims and the Soviet soldiers and troops of the Allied armies who died liberating them.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Germany Denis Sidorenko addressed the participants of the commemorative event at the monument to the fallen Soviet soldiers in Fuerstenberg, the site of the concentration camp Ravensbruck. He said that the crimes of national socialism will forever remain a deep wound in the history of Europe. The ambassador emphasized the contribution of the peoples of the former Soviet Union, including Belarusians, to the Great Victory over fascism.

The head of the diplomatic mission also laid wreaths to the memorial plaque on behalf of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko installed in memory of the victims of the concentration camps Ravensbruck and Sachsenhausen.
